Belize is one of the world’s most biologically diverse countries. It has truly pristine marine and
rainforest environments. There are some great trekking options traversing a range of rich
environments including lush tropical jungle dotted with ancient structures and beautiful
waterfalls. The people have an easy going nature and you will find the local communities
welcoming and culture fascinating. Be sure to visit soon whilst you can still find yourself far
from the maddening crowds.
Remember, all our expeditions are created bespoke so you're not restricted by what you see here. If you're undecided about where to go, just call us, we love sharing ideas.
The world really is your oyster!
Arriving in the capital Belize City, teams can opt to spend a few days adjusting to the unique culture in friendly San Ignacio. From here there are options for acclimatisation walks in nearby Elijio Panti Reserve visiting the spectacular waterfalls.
This is the phase where teams assist in a variety of environmental or community based projects. Past examples include working in an orphanage and building a playground or concreting mud floors. Other options include constructing or restoring classrooms in remote mountain communities or planting trees as part of a reforestation project. All projects are chosen in consultation with the community to ensure their needs are met.
There are several trekking options to chose from. The team can explore the numerous jungle trails in the beautiful Cockscombe basin also home to Mt
Victoria, the highest peak in Belize. Alternatively, teams could opt to trek through Mountain Pine Ridge forest reserve, the only pine forest in Central
America.
Teams can explore the many Mayan cave complexes and archaeological sites of Altun Ha and Xunantunich; climb the steps to the temple tops for stunning jungle views. The Belize Cayes off the coast from the village of Hopkins are a great place for the team to relax and soak up the culture.
Our Belize adventure is graded as moderate to difficult; however, some more challenging days can be expected when trekking in the mountains and at altitude. The fitter you are the more you will enjoy the expedition.
