The world really is your oyster!
On arrival in Nepal the group can spend a full day in Kathmandu to acclimatise. The city is brimming with history and culture. A day spent wandering through old streets, past fresh food market stalls and ancient temples is an amazing introduction to Nepal. After travelling onto Pokhara, the gateway to the Annapurna region, you can spend more time getting to know this brilliant country.
This time of year offers great opportunity for shorter trekking or sustainable projects, depending on your focus. Trekking could include short loops of the Annapurna Circuit or day walks in Kathmandu Valley. Alternatively, this time of year is great for the Everest Base Camp trek which has become an achievable goal for people to glimpse the worlds highest peak. Trekking across the Himalayas you will enjoy breathtaking scenery and can experience the unique Sherpa culture by visiting monasteries along the way. Flying to Lukla to meet the
Sherpa team, you will begin your high altitude trek along rivers and valleys before reaching the Khumbu Glacier and Base Camp at 5,364m.
With plenty of opportunity for personal development, the project phase is rewarding for you and the community you will be supporting. You will be spending time on project working with local schools or in the community, perhaps creating a play area, fixing roofs or helping to restore an 11th century monastery. Most rural schools in Nepal are in need of basic writing materials and text books. Local communities are keen to interact and welcome a sports match!
A highlight of any visit to Nepal is spending time at Chitwan National Park. You’ll have an excellent chance of spotting one-horned rhinos, deer, monkeys
and hundreds of species of birds or why not climb aboard an elephant safari? If you’re lucky you might get a glimpse of the majestic royal Bengal tiger! Back in the city, explore Kathmandu’s many Hindu and Buddhist temples and barter in the markets or visit the ancient, medieval Newari towns of Bhaktapur and Patan.
